General Overview
Our first project utilizing the Magento eCommerce platform was developing Mia & Maggie. After months of in-depth analysis of the Magento features, we were presented with the possibility to implement our acquired knowledge on a live system. We decided to base any future requests to use Magento on how successful we were with this particular project.
Mia and Maggie is an American store catering exclusively to the needs of dogs and their owners. One of the highlights of this site is the eye-catching design. Simple and comprehensive navigation made this web store’s functionality a really easy to use e-commerce site for their customers.
The needs of our client took us beyond the standard capabilities of the Magento platform. We adjusted and reconfigured the “Featured product” module giving the client an easy to use, powerful marketing tool. This allowed our client to promote any of their products at their discretion. When a customer enters the website he can scroll through a list of the selected “featured” products from the home page. This serves as a powerful advertising function for those items making them highly visible, causing them to sell much better then the regular products.
In order to facilitate the website usability for the end users we have also developed tabbed navigation for the products. Now the customers have the ability to view the product details and the relevant comments without navigating away or having to reload the page.
As a result the client was very satisfied with the combination of the usability and nice graphical interfaces with hundreds of the online customers attracted. Our first project has attracted dozens of reviews from experienced designers and regular users, providing us with a reliable reference for our future projects.
